I am pretty much down to lurking these days, because it seems that no one will comment on something they don't personally like without being snarky and/or insulting.

I feel that if you have no useful information about something, then keep your snark to your self.
Or, if your really can't keep your mouth shut, then learn to say what you mean with out being nasty.

I wasn't trying to be nasty. I sincerely think that if someone has a long-term interest in a subject they should do a modicum of research. Sometimes I post my latest 'finds' and I should probably put them in that thread because I'm not really looking for info, just excited about the latest piece of free stuff.

Bev, they buy a lot of different things, not just "art".
I doubt any of us who do the same, has time to become educated on each discipline - porcelain, jewelry, glass, etc..
And with crap like Jackson Pollock being thought "good/great" . . .

In all seriousness, I would sometimes love to be like Kardinalisimo, seeing art with minimal baggage, instead of being saddled with preconceptions.

Defending the status quo of "good taste" and "quality" has its place, but never leads to revelations.

    One becomes a mere appraiser.

Kardinalisimo appears to delight in his blind man's bluff style connoisseurship. Meanwhile his detractors moodily await the appearance of art with preordained market value or of reputable appearance...and brood when shown something other.
