    Spring -
I think what you see is texture and light reflection. I do not think they are phillip heads.
I think the dome head is textured with pitting. Or hammered might be a better term.

There are actually several sold examples on liveauctioneers mostly $125-400 range. I believe this example is the closest to mine. Mines a tad bigger measuring 3 3/4" in length. Also this one appears to have quite a few condition issues that mine does not. It sold for $200. www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9527767

Mine has three broken corner elbow ivory pieces. None are missing though, and the broken ones could be glued in place.

I was glad to find some nice stuff this weekend. I should be able to it (not just this) to fund my July vacation. I like to take at least one 3+ day vacation per month during the summer.

It's a Vizagapatam box from India, real ivory and T shell pre-1900 not the best example but these boxes go for good money

If it's bone it would be very unusual, I have around 20 Anglo Indian boxes and most use ivory, I think Vizagapatam
like that would deferentially be ivory.

I would say I'm around 99.9% sure it's ivory, it would be the first out of 100's I've seen to be bone.
