Am I dead??? insane or just

    My dead dog turned out to be a problem. They kept sending jury duty notices in the dogs name. The first few I sent back with a note to explain that it was a dead dog and not a human. Then I started I filling them out as the dog and returning them.

    Reason why you can't perform your civic duty for jury service:

    1. Short attention span.
    2. Can't sit still in the same place for
    very long.
    3. Need to be walked often
    4. Limited command of the English
    language
    5. Can only respond with one loud
    word over and over.

    I signed it with a paw print.

    A few weeks later I received a letter threatening poor Sam with a warrant for his arrest if he didn't call. So, I called. The man I spoke with didn't appreciate my sense of humor, at all.

    Even after I explained that it was a dog, a dead dog, he said if Sam didn't come in, they would come and arrest him. I said "her". He said what are you saying? "I'm saying Sam is a dead dog who was a female, you will have to arrest her, but first, you will have to dig her up". He told me he was issuing the warrant and they would be coming to facilitate the arrest. I told him to come on down.

    They never did come to arrest Sam but I did receive a few more jury duty notices which I happily filled out. Woof!

    Hi,
    Will I am on my way to a notary public with my drivers license and last four passports to be "certified" that I am alive and then on to the bank.

    Hi,
    Latest update. Took my certification and backups to the bank. The branch officer was horrified and contacted the higher ups. They promised to look into it immediately. In the mean while have credited my account with the amt of the check.

    That's excellent news, Greg. If they would give you the credit so promptly, it sounds like the "death" info came from some internal source and not via an ACH debit order sent by the SSA.

    Hi,
    Just got a call from the bank. It seems SS informed them that a client had died. Someone transposed two numbers on their account which came out to be mine. The clerk just send the "check" back to SS as requested. Now comes the real problem. The bank is only giving me 30 days grace of my check. If the SS takes longer than that I will lose the money. I almost had a stroke because I know SS takes longer than that. A bank offical said to me if I have trouble and the 30 day grace period is up call her and she will grant me more time. OH HAPPY NEW YEAR.

    So it was the banks fault that all of this happened but they are going to put restrictions on you as part of the deal. :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

    I am just glad that there is at least one bank official that has a little bit of common sense. :p

    I agree with bercrystal!
    The bank should be kissing your feet, and begging for forgiveness!
    They should be offering to drive you anywhere you need to go to fix their mistake.

    Not that I think they actually will, but still . . .

    Well, why don't they just reimburse you from the deceased client's acct? After all, that person's SS deposit is still in their acct, right?

    I think it will turn out the mistake was at the SS office. (they'd think of some other acronym if they were in Europe) not the bank, from reading Greg's post.

    If it had been the bank's error they'd have gone into full anti-lawsuit panic mode

    So sorry Greg, now a days it seems that so many employees are enept :( Whoever is at fault,they should be kissing your feet and give to you what is rightfully yours......your money. :rage:
