I always snatch singles any things of jools
I call them my "pièces détachées" or "in case of". Even if most can be worn on their own, the probability they could complete another piece is a chance to be taken

DINGDINGDING! Bingo! One reason I always ask about "single earrings and busted stuff" at estate, rummage, tag etc sales (brocantes, vide greniers et cetera). Button bins too. You never know what some thrifty grandma squirreled away.

The gaudier the better! We do not get Lea Stein here, but I would if I could.

 

I once bought a sewing basket that was chock full to get a gold thimble . And a bakelite sewing kit in the shape of an egg.

 

I'd have done the same thing. AAMOF I have done the same thing, if not to find a gold thimble. One former button tin is being used as giftwrap for a cousin's wedding present.

 

What got me is it was sitting right on top in plain view ! I had to pay $20 whole dollars.

 

(LOL) Never had that kind of luck with a button box. Somebody was NOT paying attention!

 

To put it into perspective,that was 20 years ago and Ive searched a million sewing baskets since then and never again found so much as a silver thimble !

Dessert, I do the same, have already several single earrings, some are amber and I hope to couple them in the future, some are just singles I like without any hope to make them a couple. It's a bug
Mind that yours are way more beautiful and worthy than mine. And still I can't resist and buy them.

Never have worn different earrings, too conservative for this. Actually I hate changing earrings, once I put a pair on, it stays there for ages. But I have always appreciated the boldness in style of others.

 

I wear non-pierced screw-backs most often. Wing-backs if I can find them. Single dangle silver earrings on wires can be made into bracelets or necklaces. I take off the hooks and add a jump ring. Attach to a chain bracelet that's also silver. Post earrings are for it, I'm afraid.

 

I would have the diamond piece made into a ring like they did with vintage garnet pieces. Superb!

In Winter I dont have the energy to change earrings (I mostly wear black in these cold days without light). In Summer days I go crazy with everything

Odd earrings are a Thing.

 

I wear a stud with the one earring I have. My favorite combo is a 14k black onyx ball with a 14k onyx studded hoop. I wear a CZ or diamond stud or gold ball earring with single earrings.

 

That must look so classy.

 

It's fun.

 

Back in the day I wore something like a key earring in one ear. What in G'ds name was I thinking.
