That reminds me of the episode of Cash in the Attic where they sold a four ounce 22K bracelet for 300 quid, catalogued as 'yellow metal' because it didn't have a British hallmark.

From the front it is a lovely pin.

However, you can see what Holly is referring to. It is interesting that the ones I circled in red, that point toward the center are better cut and formed.
While the ones I circled in blue, pointing away from center are very sloppily cut.

I still think it is a lovely pin

Did you notice top right blue circle, left side cut was finished and solder added for repair/unknown reason. There appears to be "blobs" of solder on other areas also.

thanks for posting the photo cluttered, now I can see what Holly is referring to. To my untrained eye it looked good to me. I agree, a lovely pin.

I noticed the soldered looking areas on the brooch as well.
The sale starts tomorrow, I guess we will see what people think

We're fussy about hallmarks, to say the least. Which means sometimes, you can pick up stuff for peanuts, as in the Indian silver charger I got for about five dollars the other day.

Older gold, if below seven grammes, often isn't hallmarked though.

I agree, though it is beautiful, the craftsmanship is not up to the standard we are used to in many countries. That is why I think it could have been made in a country where the craft is learned from an early age in small workshops, like somewhere in the Middle East or smalltown India. The design is generic and would appeal to people anywhere in the world.
Attached are pictures of a gold and turquoise ring made by an Armenian jeweller in Teheran in 1970, and the back of a panel of a Saudi or Yemeni bracelet. They are both lovely and I enjoy wearing them, but look at the detail. A Dutch jeweller would be appalled.

Middle East or India wouldn't use that roll back. I've seen some far sloppier British - and other European - stuff.

These days, maybe. Not very common in the 1950s. I tend to mustrust Etsy descriptions almost as much as Ebay ones.

I think it is lovely, and I would wear it as a pendant.

What an excellent point. The details, yes. The workmanship is rough, to say it kindly. Thank you for the post. I have noticed this in jewelry and never put together the places and who might be making it, Unless, of course, it is a signed piece.
