I remember gas was 19 cents a gallon

Greg, when I started driving, it ranged from 29.9 to 33.9... and it was always FULL SERVE! You could pull in & ask for a dollar's worth, and actually GET somewhere!

    Hi,
Here in Jersey it is still full service. I think it is in Oregon also. Every where else they said if you pump your own it will be cheaper. They lied. It is nice when you are dressed up not to have to pump your own. Especially if it is raining like hell.

I had no idea of this when I pulled into an Oregon station the first time.
I got out and started to pump the gas and they completely flipped out!!!
I had NO idea what the Helsinki was going on at first and they weren't nice about it either.
    Clownfarts. :clown:
No one stopped me at the border and handed me instructions for being in Oregon. :p

    Hi Kot,
Drove to Williamsburg Va a few years back. Pulled into the gas station and waited for 15 mins, no one showed up to pump my gas,THEN I remembered.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

All it did was make more profit for the station and cut out a service job that employed thousands...

When my back teller asks me if I want to bank online......I ask her why she's trying to kill her job ?

    Hi,
It is like the auto teller in the food store. If I use it they will not need clerks to check me out. I tell the stores if it gives me a discount I might otherwise I will use the clerks and save their jobs.

They had those at our Canadian Tire store...
They were so troublesome ....needed staff to help you figure it out....no one liked them.....& so they tossed them !!!

    The people had spoken !!!!

Our grocery stores fare no better............

MONTREAL — Self-checkout machines, those computerized, talking terminals that let you scan your own groceries, drop them in a bag and pay by cash or card, were supposed to be win-win. They held the promise of reduced costs, improved profits and increased efficiency along with customer satisfaction.

If a cashier could scan and bag groceries, why couldn’t a customer?

Well, customers could and they do, but it turns out the majority don’t like doing it.

Canadian grocery chains have installed some of the machines — known by several names, including Semi-Attended Customer-Activated Terminals (SCAT) — but none are talking about adding more.

And Loblaw Cos. Ltd. has removed them from its newly branded stores in Quebec, Provigo Le Marché.

“I don’t like the system,” Pierre Desmanches, co-owner of a modern IGA north of Montreal, said recently. “We lose the face-to-face with the customer. And older people don’t like playing with the keypads and product codes or credit cards.”

But it wasn’t just the service aspect that turned Desmanches off the self-checkout machines — it was the cost.

I only use them if everyone in the state is in line. :p
What I don't like is 'they' talk TO me as if I'm an idiot.
Odd.... The Whale Mart ones don't do this....

Wiper no. 1496 costs $86. According to the chart. Wonder what was so special about that one?

Maybe 1496 was a gold-plated wiper arm for a Rolls R. I actually searched for old Anco part numbers but no luck. Or maybe a Wiper motor.
