Not sure if I can post on this thread that is six years old now. I found it when I was curious about a Dr. Sutorius in Florence, Colorado. I was researching one of his patients, a 19-year-old woman who died apparently from leakage of heart valves and Bright's disease on Jan. 6, 1908. I never found any theories of why she got so sick so fast when she was previously very healthy. It seems nobody questioned the diagnosis. I'm 99% sure this is the same doctor that was discussed in the thread. Interesting . . . I'm still looking into him, trying to find any references to whether he was a competent doctor.

Hi, @HistoryHunter and welcome to Antiquers! Now I'll have to read the whole thread again to remember about the doctor. I do still have the photograph that began the thread. :):) I can't even remember what all we discussed, but I do think that @Bakersgma was part of the discussion and will tag her right now! Also, @elarnia and @Pat P !

Hm, didn't we think he was a dentist in earlier posts in this thread? But maybe we found out that he was an M.D., too.

I notice in post #31 in this thread I linked to this Google Books note that he was appointed health officer of Florence in 1911:
    https://books.google.com/books?id=ueFXAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA474&lpg=PA474&dq="f.+a."+"sutorius"&source=bl&ots=G3n-Cj8m2r&sig=QLN1gBafuqLdTd1kp3YFCaDCEgE&hl=en&sa=X&ei=nQizU4bfIJeryATmsYDoCw&ved=0CDIQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q="f. a." "sutorius"&f=false
I agree with you that it's likely to be the same person but probably should write up a chronology of what we've found about him to confirm.

Also found this nomination for the National Register of Historic Places for a building in which he lived in Florence, Colorado from 1909-1916.

Sorry, Fig. I had to read through the whole thread to remember this story, but really can't add anything to what's already there. If I ever had any notes, they're long gone.

I just thought you might be interested. :)

The new inquiry would lead down a road of researching Dr. Sutorius.

It's certainly an interesting line of inquiry. I'm just up to my cataract ridden eyeballs in other stuff already. ;):watching:

Ditto on that ! I guess when your interested in history, thread dates don't matter ....lol... I was drawn right into it !!!! I kind of have a pet peave: people who get miffed when an old thread is opened .....Who cares ? Opening an old thread just adds to the discussion, sort of like the on going debate of the Origin of Man !!! .... who knew 50 years ago we would be so into DNA and such !!!!

This story about Adelaide and the doctor even came out in the Swedish paper 1900.
