I should receive the image in a few days. Fingers crossed there isnt anything hidden that wasnt shown in the pictures. Hopefully no scratches on the images or mold growth behind it.

Also, I agree her hand might look larger than normal because she is holding it out in front of her quite a bit.

    Great find!!

We have several of these, and they're so fun. I actually found one at a yard sale once, and it was complete, and great condition- it was $10! They had no clue what it was. My husband carefully took it out of the case to inspect it, and found a lock of hair! It was a fun find.

What a bummer. Well where to start.... There was a decent amount of white mold growth and a moldy smell coming from the case. The image isn't actually tinted.... it is just tarnished overall giving off an allusion of being tinted. The image plate itself is actually quite bent and reflects light in an odd way. Also, there are some deep scratches on the image. I suppose I will be returning it because at the price I paid it just isn't worth it. OH and the brass preserver is broken into two pieces!

I would love to work on it and make it nice but at a cheaper price. I brought this up with the seller and was told I got a good enough of a price already. Therefor it is going back...

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

So sorry to hear about this. It's a nice image that deserves some care and restoration. But I can see why you wouldn't want to spend a lot on it.

I decided to bite the bullet and restore it. I will be more careful from now on. I have rubbed the case down in isopropyl alcohol and it is now soaking in the sun. I will also vacuum it with a hepa filtration system. The image will be soaked and resealed. I will be keeping the original glass as there is nothing wrong with it! Will post results in a few days.
