When you are in this business since a long time, you have sometimes the opportunity to found a holy graal of gold or silver in a lot of junk, for me and my wife it's about 4-5 times occurred to found a seller which has a pair of 18th century good candlesticks(my speciality) and sells me for tin in place of silver for example, or buying a box of items and when all was controlled it was a lot more of broken gold in it than you've paid for the lot.
My last good found was in December, a gold wrist watch for 10 swiss francs, about 10$ and it was 17 grams gold, but sometimes it can be a lot more interesting.

It doesn't happen too often, but it's FUN when it does! I got an antique 14k and blue zircon brooch on Saturday for a junk costume price. It's not the best made piece, but it's better than advertised.

Thank you AnyJewelry those look exactly like the marks on my piece! So it's safe to say this piece was made after 1920.

Do you have a book that shows those markings?

I took the photo of the Moroccan mark of a page in a German book: "Goldstempel aus aller Welt" by Jan Divis, on world gold marks. I believe it has been translated into English. He also wrote one on silver marks.

The French mixed gold-silver mark is from Tardy's "Les poinçons de garantie internationaux pour l'or", also on world gold marks. I don't know if it has been translated into English, the Tardy on silver marks has.
The Tardy gold mark book also has the Moroccan mark.

Think that mark is on the clip of the chain? No reason to assume those pieces were made by Eloi.

I think you're right. Neil R. Sullivan could have bought a French-made cigar clipper in Casablanca (where else? ;) ), where he had a chatelaine-like chain engraved to go with it.
