Carl here or *crs* as some may know my by. Good evening everyone. I see a few familiar names here from the pgp board and AB. Thanks for the invite Pat(clutteredcloset49) and Peter's work to help get me in here after my happy fingers typing .coom :) I know a little bit about pottery & glass. Just enough to be dangerous :) My ex MIL got me started in antiques back in 1990. Not sure how often I'll be able to visit but I will poke my head in every now and then to see if I can help with something and to read and learn.

CRS is being modest -- he knows way more than a "little" about pottery and glass.

    Hi Carl -
So glad to see you made it. And Wendy is right, you know a lot about pottery and have taught many of us a thing or too.

Hope that you find you need to check in here more than now and then.

Hello everyone!!!! I know I should have posted here already but things do not always go as planned. One of my favorite sayings is, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. :p LOL

I have been on ebay since 2000 & kind of just kind of fell into this selling thing. Unlike most of you, my parents were not in the antique business, but I have always liked old things & was a bit of a hunter gatherer.

We have had a computer in our house since the early 80's when IBM put out their first PC, but I was too busy with kids & going back to school to mess with it at all. It wasn't until 1998 when my DH decided to go back into consulting again which meant he would take jobs that were located in some other state & I was forced to learn how to email someone. That was before unlimited long distance came into being & he said we were not going to waste money on phone bills. About a year after he started doing this consulting stuff I was taken to my first auction by a friend & I had an absolute ball. I started to go to occasional auctions on the weekends that I was by myself. Eventually I decided I had to start selling some of the stuff I was buying or stop going to auctions because it was starting to build up. I rented a small booth at a local antique mall in the beginning, but started selling on ebay soon there after but it was only a very little because I still had a RL full-time job as an OR nurse. In 2004 I started working part-time so that I could spend more time doing this because it was decidedly a whole lot more fun than the RL job. I officially retired permanently in 2005 because it had gotten to the point where I absolutely dreaded phone calls asking me to work. At first I had at least 1 booth & sold on ebay, but gave up the last booth in 2009.

I sell mostly glassware & porcelain with the majority being sets of china or sets of stemware. However I have been known to sell just about anything I think will make me money. ;)

My passion as a hunter gatherer is perfume bottles. The majority of my collection was made by DeVilbiss which was originally located in my hometown of Toledo, Ohio. They produced bottles from 1905 to 1968 so there are many different styles from extremely ornate to real plain janes & everything in between. My favorites are the very early bottles which were either embossed or acid etched DeVilbiss Toledo on the bottom & the Art Deco style bottles. I also have some of the cut glass Czech bottles, the Czech filigree bottles & different varieties of travel atomizers.

If anyone comes across any type of perfume bottles, I’ll be glad to help when I can because some of them can do quite well. I’m better at the decorative variety, but do have some references for the commercial variety.

I am really happy that this site was started & hope that it continues to thrive for a very long time!!!!

Hi All, Sorry I have not introduced myself earlier..! I am Janette.....aka janettekay..here and on Ebay...I am a retired educator and live in Northern NJ. Kind of been collecting a little bit of everything over the years (but unfortunately not an expert on anything) and now trying to downsize a bit. My house is just too small !!

My aunt gave me a love of American Brilliant cut glass (my collection has about 75 pieces-) and I have a fondness for paperweights-mostly American but also some European. ( with a collection now of about 80 after selling some over the years)..I also love pottery but just have no more room for anything !!

I was so happy to be invited here...everyone is just so kind and so very knowledgeable ..What a breath of fresh air !! Thank you all for being here.

I didn't see the introduction board until today. I go by Marko or Mark here, I like to stay anonymous for reasons that have to do with employer privacy issues.

While I do have a day job, my favorite pastime is treasure hunting. Jewelry is my first love, and I have to admit, I do hoard it, although it is manageable due to its size. When I was little and I was ill, my mother gave me her jewelry box to play with. I have always been fascinated with jewelry. I have been collecting since I was a teenager, and I collected a lot costume jewelry going to flea markets.

I do look for perfume and dolls while I am out and about, and I sell that to buy more jewelry. :) I don't know a thing about glassware, although I find it beautiful. My husband is a bull in a china shop, so most of my accent furniture and kitchen goods are vintage/second hand. My decorating style is eclectic Retro Victorian Art Deco Shabby Chic. I do love old linens and rescue and restore them. Thanks for inviting me!

Hi Marco, so glad to see you here :) I love jewelry too, I also played with my Mom's jewelry.I hoarded quite a bit over the years but sadly sold a lot too before eBay was born. I am also into glassware, silver and plated items, linens, doilies, hankies, doodads and sewing stuff. I guess I am a hoarder of all things.
