I agree with Bev that I certainly didn't think it was for real eggs. The one pictured with 2 real eggs looks awkward at best. Then when I found the multiple holder one on Etsy with 7 holes, I felt real eggs seemed more appropriate because a shaker holder needs an even number of holes. Nowwww I have found another multiple holder hen in Jadite that the seller claims is for deviled eggs. I can see the multiple ones for deviled eggs and not whole real eggs, but I haven't ever seen a devil egg holder/dish for only 2 eggs. The double holders may still be up in the air. I just don't know: shaker holder, real egg holder, devil egg holder......????

Assuming it's an egg holder, what would you use it for? Maybe keeping eggs handy in your refrigerator after you collected them directly from the hen? (mine are in the styrofoam box in my frig) I could see using the 8 egg holder for that, but just two? Ok, you only own 2 hens, I get it. Anyway, I'm mystified as to how it would be used. Then again, the indents seem too shallow to be for a S&P set.

 

Deviled eggs makes some sense, but then I agree with Susan about the 2 hole hen.

 

I think we should rule out shakers, because there seem to be too many out there with no shakers and absolutely none out there with shakers.

 

I just don't get why you'd have one with only two eggs, unless you put it on the table and each of you has one egg cup like this one.

 

8 shakers? There may have been more than 8 spaces actually.
