Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Charles McLaughlin Cloud (1872-1932) has an entry on this genealogical site, which I'd never used before. His wife's maiden name was Lucille Cochran: http://mykindred.com/cloud/TX/getperson.php?personID=I76171&tree=mykindred01

I noticed that it says he had been the mayor of Aberdeen, Washington but he was buried in Contra Costa (County), California. I don't find him in Find A Grave but did find his mother-in-law Henrietta Louise Baldwin Cochran, buried in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor County, Washington. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=100284400 -- This details some census records, one of which includes Charles.

I found this newspaper from Monroe, Washington that includes a brief notice in the far left column: "Charles M. Cloud, ex-president of the Kiwanis club and ex-councilman, was unanimously elected mayor of Aberdeen to succeed A. C. Hopkins, who resigned."

And in a Google search some entries from newspapers.com come up... from the Aberdeen paper in 1911 and 1913. So he lived there at least as early as 1911. According to the genealogical site I linked above, in 1900 he was living in San Francisco. I could look further as to when he might have moved to Aberdeen. And I'm interested that he lived in Aberdeen for at least 20 years, yet was buried in California (if that is true).

Morgen, I like the "baggageman" connection that you found, also. Working for the railroad may have been a common occupation for young people in the San Miguel area, perhaps...

Oh, I just noticed the genealogical site gives places of birth for the children of Charles and Lucille. The eldest was born 1902 in California and the second was born in 1905 in Washington, and the third specifies being born in Aberdeen, Washington in 1908.

 OK, I promise to work on it for you! And in the meantime you just invoice me for your services as my personal cheerleader. Thanks so much for the very-much-undeserved praise. It is only because of the databases to which I subscribe and not any skill of mine.

Fig, the reason I enjoy this board so much is because of how much I learn from the posts, and especially from your fascinating items and thorough and detailed research. Thanks for that enrichment.

When referring to the Monroe, Washington paper I should have mentioned it was in April 1925 that he was elected. And I meant to include the link to the page:
