    Those are not opera glasses.

    They're a lorgnette. The 835 would indicate 83.5% SILVER (and 16.5% copper).

    Most likely made in Europe.

    Hi,

I have these MOP Le Maire theater glasses. Don't know what the "S" engraving stands for? Any thoughts? Can it be country of origin?

    Thanks. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg

The bumblebee is the Le Maire trademark/logo. Not sure about the S.

  6. Hi, guys ;) A little bit late, but I presume, that numbers 63 or 61 might stand for distance between eyepiece centers. I have a few opera glasses that look simillar with different numbers as well as different opera glasses with same numbers, so that guess is more likely to be the truth.

  7. on another question of "where to looks for indication of producer", except but those already named, I must say, I have a pair of opera glasses with no indication in any accessible place, but when I was cleaning them, I found the producer's name on the rib of the lense, so hidden untill disassembled. That Was Balland's. Thought it was noname, but then I got this surprisingly flattering find :)

yes...late to the thread....but never too late to add good information.....:happy::happy::)

  9. please, note - it's just my guess. but as both 61 and 63mm are quite common distances for spectacles, that might be truth :)
