For the ebay glasses $60 sounds about right. They may have fetched more if offered internationally.

I love my brown leather clad Lemaire with case. I have used them at plays, concerts and many indoor events. Mine are not as elegant as yours, but their size and condition make them perfect for such events.

Oh I definitely intend to use these. I'll take 'em along to the next theater-performance I go to. Or even to the cinema depending on the seat-allocation.

I have recently purchased a pair just like this with a case. There are no markings of a bee, only a small number 2 that is partially hidden under the one eye piece. The case though including latch matches other listings for Lemaire Opera glasses. The top of the eye piece you look through has nothing written on it and doesn't look like it ever did. They are in good shape and it doesn't appear to have worn off. I have been trying to look up if there were other makers of French opera glasses with other of pearl inlays or would it have only been Lemaire?

Hah! LOADS of manufacturers made MoP opera-glasses. They're almost the most common type you can find. The material they're made of is no way of finding out who made them.

LeMaire was one of the better know manufacturers though.

Mine as well - I have a feeling that his photos are hosted elsewhere and the connection is no longer in place. I still don't understand why folks don't use the drag and drop method, but to each his own...........................

The most obvious place to find markings is on the eyepieces. That usually has stuff like company name, address, or retailers' details.

If not, then check the bridge. There'll be things on there like company logos etc.

    A butterfly indicates LeMaire.
    A C inside a six-point star is Colmont.

There were other symbols. I don't remember them all so late at night...

Are the opera glasses silver? If so, 835 might be the purity of the silver (83.5%).

Any photographs of the opera glasses? They might help...
