The Goodwill store where this was found is about a 30 minute drive from my home. If I had seen this bottle I probably would have picked it up for 3.99 but wouldn't have any idea of it's true value. It would still be sitting on my shelf in the 'eventually figure this one out' part of the hoard.

I've seen many Chinese knockoffs more striking than this-art/collectibles/values are sometimes a real mystery.

I would have thought it was some sort of Christmas item from China......specially at this time of year..

Ditto-I'm no PHD 'Glassie',but this thing to my untutored eye says banal schlock.Naturally,if I'd just received a cashiers check for close to a 100K,I'd be laughing all the way to you know where.

My thrift near me, sent me an email saying they are not taking anymore donations till next year. Which means they may have gotten a gem amongst the drek or it is all drek. Years ago they had such a wonderful assortment of goodies and great prices. Now they leave out stuff that will never sell at high prices and if any of the workers smiled there, I would faint.

The people who previously ran it, knew what they were doing. For the junk, they would put a table outside and it was marked free. And the good stuff was inside.
Now they keep the junk inside forever and the back room is fully stocked with stuff and probably has some decent merch. Who knows when it will see the light of day.

It used to be my go to place, now I maybe go there 3 times a year.

The endless parade of overpriced junk I've seen in the last 3 years is actually taming my addiction !
Now when want to see a few decent items without 'thrift PTSD',we actually do a blitzkrieg of the local antique malls.
    Who'da thunk ?

We go to a few in our area once a week maybe. I generally only find good things in the fresh bins, which is fine because my house is only so big and I cut back on the selling as I'm burnt out by it after soooo many years. The husband picks up books unfortunately...he's building a little to-read fort in the corner of our bedroom. :grumpy: He is not deterred by the fact that we could walk to a library branch which has access to everything in the state + interloan AND we've got access to the library of the local prestigious art uni. :hilarious:

I do remind him to count his "stores" and remember how many he can read in a year... Not sure if he listens to that. Don't get me started on the music collection. His player once told us he had enough music to take I think 7 years to listen to all of it at 24 hrs a day. Like that song? Gonna be 7 years before you have time to hear it again. :hilarious: I live with one of those "forest" collectors. It's not that the individuals (trees) are the best, it's the size of the collection (forest) that brings happiness.

We've actually started taking some of our stuff to the 'real' charities (not GW),even weeding out books,cd's,clothes. It got to the point where we couldn't even inventory stuff to sell-it was so madcap the garage looked stage 4 tornado wreckage.
