Featured 1000 silver little pill box

Like AJ, this mark is ringing a bell with me, and suspect the '4' may not actually be the numeral. The reason I made the effort to hunt up the source of the 'quote', was to see if there were any clues there, and can only say that while I've seen a lot of Italian silverplate flatware and holloware with deceptive fineness marks, can't recall seeing jewelry marked in that manner, so was disappointed the images were gone.

Have seen various items in fine silver, marked as either '1000' or '999' (even '99%' on Korean silver) - and I believe the pillbox is probably solid silver rather than plated. Without really looking around (busy making masks, plus working on my phone, and my eyes and head hurt) - will suggest looking for similar Turkish or, I believe a bit less likely, Greek pieces...

Wow, a Persian etched aqeeq, I think a need a new pill box. As far as I know aqeeq etching was done in Iran until the mid 1950s.
You're right, it is a similar wire tube hinge, and the same texture. You see the hinge in most of Asia and also in North Africa. Repoussé and turquoise are also seen in those regions, but also other regions of course.
Now where did I put my thinking cap....

That one is from Afghanistan. That kind of flush stone inlay is typical of Pashtun work.

 

I've quoted stuff without giving credit.....I'll lean from this animated discussion too...
