No you did nothing wrong. If it has a couple of coats, stripping and sanding will have to do. When latex paint first came out in the 40s/50s you could strip it off with ammonia. I had a wonderful Federal bullseye mirror that someone painted with yellow latex paint in the mid 50s and then with a coat of silver radiator paint in the 70s. I removed the two layers using ammonia and Q-tips, when I reached the latex layer with the ammonia it popped off the silver paint.

FYI, You can use Shabby Chic. An ebay seller sued shabby chic and won when they cancelled her auction through the Vero program. The same seller has since challenged other Vero claims in court and won.

Hi,
I will not use it since I can not afford a lawyer to fight them if Vero decides to pull it. These guys have money to fight I do not.

On Ebay you can only use it in the description not title but you can in the body of a add

 

Agree with K above-no point in removing the paint if u are just going to repaint it, just follow surface prep instructions on the paint can and paint. Stay within temp/humidity limits listed on can.
