These are some of the heaviest drawers I have ever felt. The front is 4 inch layers of solid wood. very well made. They slide in perfectly.
The French and Italians certainly did. The Germans and Scandinavians tended to be pine from my experience. Not to sure who else....anyone?
yes you are right, drawer linings are oak. Back, base and inner is pine.
