I found these today as they came off a truck of donations at my local thrift store.

The puppets I think, are Thai? But they are each tied or inside a woven bag or backpack.

Are the puppets Thai or Indonesia?
What are they & where are the bags/backpacks from?

Do these go together or can I try to untie the bags & take the puppets out?

    Thank you for any information!

The puppets are from Cirebon, Java, Indonesia. The Cirebon style has some Chinese influence. There is a special name for this style, other than Wayang Golek, which escapes me now.
Could we see the rest of them too? The basket and the puppets don't go together, so you can take them out.:)

The basket/bag could be Dayak, from Borneo.

I'll try to open bags - tied or sewn shut I'm guessing from a quick glance

Bags? Opened- it looks like both had handles tied to bottom to make it like a backpack to carry & 1 of them the bottom strings broke so now it has a bag/purse like handle

So much better now they are freed.;)
They are from an entirely different culture from the baskets, so it was a bit silly that they were trapped like that.

If you want to sell them, sell the puppets as a pair, they belong together. Be sure to include the "Cirebon Wayang Golek" in the title. Cirebon puppets are more rare than regular Wayang Golek puppets.
    They are probably mid-20th century.

The baskets can be sold as single items. Some asking prices:
