Hi all! Picked up this little trinket dish (?) at a community garage sale for a dollar. It is stamped 4595 on the base. He's a curious looking hog, not the cutest :shame:. It is bisque, a little like Lladro's colours but can find anything similar. Do you recognise it as being by a particular maker? It is 3.5"L x 3.1"W x 2"H. Any info appreciated, thanks as always!

Everything about it, including the lucky pig, horseshoe and 4-leaf clover, points to Germany - might be Schafer & Vater, but there were also other makers...

Thank you. Funny, I thought German when I first looked at it! I will explore that avenue. Thanks :)

    Agreed, a little German fairing.

Of course other countries have some of the same lucky symbols, and Germany has others than shown on the link (including the number '13'). To expand on my initial response, I just suggested that everything about it (the overall look, the matte 'jasperware-like' surface, the impressed numbers, even the common green color), and including the 'good luck' symbols, particularly with the pig, pointed to German manufacture...

Oh, I wasn't meaning anything negative, just a comment from my free-association brain (my brother says I have a RAM brain -- random access memory, LOL). I didn't think anything other than German was in question. :shy:

Heh, I was in a hurry when I first posted and realized that I hadn't really explained my opinion (other than in my own head). My memory is not what it used to be, but seem to recall we share a fondness for Schafer & Vater and the like?

Oh yes, I do like the fun aspect of lots of Schafer & Vater wares -- they make me smile. I confess to having very "eclectic" tastes and interests.
