Featured Brass mount/plate... does this have any age?

I have a friend who sometimes does glass art with old metal pieces, so I grabbed this. If it doesn't have resale value, she gets it.

Wondering if anyone can take a stab at how old this is. Also curious if older, whether there is a market for things like this. (Also what exactly do I call it? A brass plate?) Just over 5" left to right. Stamped 1813, which I assume is a model #? It looks like the numbers were stamped one at a time.

    Thanks for taking a look!

The '8' appears upside-down, which may confirm your observation. I like it!
I'm wondering about the blind holes in the back...an' what appear to be a dozen circular non-holes, as perhaps artifacts of a die-casting process. I agree with komokwa that it isn't very old, but that doesn't blunt my appreciation for it. It looks to be brass or bronze; is it magnetic? If it were mine, I would wall-mount it, as-is!

    Thanks Komokwa and wlwhittier.

Not magnetic. Pretty sure it is brass.

Could be plated zinc, too, Lucille.

As in: brass over zinc? That would be a first, for me at least.

Yessir. I've seen a fair amount of this. A thin layer of plating sometimes followed by a layer of lacquer (this one does not look lacquered).

I didn't want to suggest to Lucille that she could scratch the piece to see what color the scratch reveals, but I usually do so I know what the material is before listing.

There is a pretty solid market for furniture hardware. This is a nice big piece and would be easy to add a nice ring pull to. I wouldn’t be shocked if you got $20 out of it. Even $30 if you waited for the right person. It doesn’t look super new to me.
