This vase is 8 1/4" tall. I can make out the "silver deposit" but don't know the initials in the center of the sticker. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

The silver deposit was done by E & J Bass of NYC. The label is shown in their summary in Rainwater's Ency.

And their working dates (which I forgot to mention) are c. 1890 - c. 1930.

Thank you so much, Bakersgma. Any thoughts on who may have made the glass? Do you think American? Shape looks sort of European to me. If it helps, glass is semi-opaque, yellow at top shading to a more orangey-yellow at the bottom.

Sorry that I have no input on the glass, Ascot. It's beautiful, though!

    My first thought was Czech

I thought Czech, too. Do you know if Czech glass would have been imported and then decorated by a US company?

I've been looking around to confirm, but I do believe it was.

Seems like I heard the lady on Antiques Roadshow--can't recall her name--that IDs Tiffany and Loetz glass a lot say that.

I have a Lotz vase with silver overlay that is marked for an American silver company :)

I vote Bohemian with that custard colour. We imported lots then added silver rims.

Yes! A few years back we were fortunate enough to get tickets to the Roadshow. I was showing some glass to another appraiser when she came over to the table to see what I'd brought. She was so nice.

Personally, would guess this piece circa 1920s, and while it looks like Bohemian glass to me too, the 1916 trade journal article below may cast some doubt...

Looked through some of their old ads in my files, but didn't find a similar piece - did find this article stating that the pieces shown were 'Bohemian', manufactured by E. & J. Bass, also mentioning that other American firms were producing similar. The items shown have white enamel bands with floral decoration, but my Mom has a similar jam jar with a pink enamel band decorated with silver deposit.

That's fascinating and really useful. Thanks Cheryl: I do love provenance which show how makers emulated and copied.
