I found these today in a box of postcard, stamps & other this-n-thats at a yard sale today.
One is dated 1942 in roman numerals & the other is dated 1956. They are made of a fuzzy? cardboard - I thought they were coasters but they are too big (8" x 3.5"). Then I thought maybe postcards?
Can anyone tell me what I have?
    Thanks, I appreciate any help.

Maybe ink blotters. Pens with nibs still in use then.

These are described as ink blotters on the internet and there are a surprising number in unused condition around. I would first ascertain if they're genuinely vintage.
