WWII photos - need help please!

Hi, I have a batch of photos and I'm trying to identify the man in them. The biggest clues come from a set of WWII photographs, but I'm still struggling and need help.

The back of this photo says 'Taken in Cairo, 2.3.42' and is signed 'John':

I know from other photos that 'John' is on the right. I recognise the RAF uniform

Then this next one, with 'John' on the left - can anyone tell me what the shorthand (letters & numbers) on the kit bags means? I can make out 'Henderson' and R 4 8/7S (or 75). On the back is written 'Taken 1942, the desert'.

Their squadron should be listed here if u can crack the code. On down the page u can see which squadrons operated Wellingtons and where were based in 1942.
