I got a few of these last year, but now I just recently got hold of about 20 separate issues of each.
The British ones are full of propaganda 1939 onwards, but the American plane mags dated 1935-36-37-38 actually show air battles with German planes with swastika insignia , who knew ? who predicted the future ?

I find it amazing that a secret airplane design is shown to a future enemy in a weekly magazine, I bet the Japanese ordered a full years subscription :D

The Spanish civil war was 1936-39, and the German air force was very active in it.

Quite a few of the new German airplanes got their first combat experience in Spain. Remember officially the Germans were not allowed to have an Air Force or even develop offensive aircraft.

It is interesting that the silhouette of the SBD looks almost identical to the actual aircraft.
