    With all the talk about postcards & albums lately, I decided to pull out some of the ones I have and take a "fresh look" at them.

    I've mentioned before that I have a bunch of the embroidered silk ones. I counted today, and there are 51 of them, all different! Most have writing on the back, but none of them was posted "as is" - they must have been mailed in envelopes.

    In addition, the group includes:

    10 colorized "made for the war" PCs;
    15 B&W RPPCs of family member soldiers & their chums;
    18 B&W RPPCs of places in France the soldiers had passed thru;
    6 different (rather odd) color drawing PCs of the "Miracle of (St) Bernadette"

    and several other different types.

    I don't want to hog the board, so I'll just post a couple of examples of some of them, starting here with the colorized "made for the war" type:

    The sender wrote some sweet (and slightly risque) notes on the backs of these!

    And here are just a few of the embroidered silk ones. There are all sorts of themes in the group, including holidays, but none of the "Regimental" type:

    King, there's actually a book about them (although it focuses more on the cards meant for the British military than for the American. LOTS of Royal Navy ones are mentioned.)

    The book came out in 1994, and I bought a copy not long after that:
