Does anybody else on Antiquers write or blog or make videos about the antiques in their collection?

Who else has their own little online cubbyhole where they write about the latest additions to their collections? Or current restoration projects? Or things on their wish-lists?

 

You'd have to ask the 800 members here who are under 30.....oh wait...they don't come here to chat.

OK....it is my opinion that the core group who post here ...( & actually read these posts...) have neither the time or inclination to blog, pinterest, youtube, snap chat reddit twitter or any other of the social media ( other than Farcebroke)..sites.

But...
We have a ton of members under age 30 who likely do all these sites & many more & may even be searching out a Pokemon at their local park or mall at this very moment .....but they will never see this thread .

I used to have a YouTube Channel and blog relating to parrots... nothing antique-related. The only other person here(as far as I know) who does YouTube show-and-tells is Springfield Arsenal. Oh and Robin was maybe thinking of something to complement her auctions. That's 3 out of however-many-we are!

 

I have web-sites related to some of my cultural interests, and I do post youtube videos of my musical performances (or my wife does) but I don't blog.

 

Shangas I liked your selling antiques blog. I've never sold anything online and will get round to it eventually. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the heads up on your blog. Nice breakdown of basics on how to start selling. After 20 years of tag sales, I plan to start listing things later this year, so it hit the spot.

 

CX - I hadn't heard it, either! I picked it up somewhere online. A mix between restoring and modifying. The box was in terrible condition when I bought it, but I knew I'd never get another chance to find another one like it, so I just went with my gut feeling. Worked out great!

I'd love it if 50 , 80 or 100 members here ....who do what you do, reply to this thread with their own tales on social media.

Just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean it won't. I didn't see my blog getting a massive spike in hits last night happening either...

 

Just cuz you want it to happen......doesn't mean it will !!

There are " 6 " members on this thread as of now.........we'll see just how many more show up to regale us with tales of their on line exploits ........ before this thread sinks into history.

 

If you're really this critical I'm not sure why you're still posting here. In fact I'm not sure why you would've bothered starting to post in the first place.

 

Im under 30 but I dont blog. Ive tried before, just can not find the time with 2 kids, running a household, running a booth at a mall and working a part time job with an antique auction and estate company.
Weve been trying to get our house on the market for the past 3 months and its eaten into my work life tremendously. While its exciting for this new step to happen, for my business's sake Ill be happy when we get settled so I can be up and running at 100% again.

I do have a facebook business page that I post on about my latest finds. Nothing in detail really, just pictures and some short descriptions, sometimes what Im up to, etc etc
I need to really start making it more personal though, people like personality...

 

There are lots of people over 30 who blog ... I regularly read a lot of blogs about librarianship. I know something about some of the authors and most are over 30. Blogs have been around since the late 1990s.

Nice blog! I only do forums. Maybe at some point when I feel that I have more expertise in a given area.
