Not sure what exactly is this, a bed tray? About 8 1/2" tall and 23" across the top.
I know nothing about furniture so no idea how old, who made it etc...
    Any thoughts
    Thanks

I think that at 8-1/2" tall (with more wood intruding between the top and the bottom) it would be a bit too short (not enough clearance) for a person to have it "over their body" (legs or abdomen) while either lying or propped-up in a bed or sitting in a chair.

What I am trying to say is I don't see it as a "lap" tray.

I do think it is pretty piece. ;)

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    I agree, YourTurn.
I've been wracking my imagination, trying to get ideas.
An accent-base, set on a dining (or other) table, to set off a special dish or such?
A lap-tray? It might sit more readily on the knees than thighs?
    A bed-table for a child????
A picnic table (folds up for portability?)?

    Thanks.
Do you think it is made in Japan or just in the style of? Fairly recent?
