Wooden incarved naked lady

Never able to find out who was the artist . On the back I see Toulouse and some other words not able to read and a date 1936 what it looks . So anybody any idea ? Thanks

 

She is, I think, either a copy of a Gaugin or in the style of him. R.Offler?

 

It looks like it says Toulouse on the back and, although I can't find this exact image quickly, it is similar to some of his paintings. (Lautrec)

 

Interesting spelling....I don't see an "e" at the end.............image inverted!!

 

I see Roffner in the painted signature.

 

The painted name has a dot in between the R and the O so must be R.Offner . The only R. Offner I find is a art writer in that time off the date ?

 

I concur with Bev, in the manner of Toulouse-Lautrec.

I think that sort of dash after the "s" is suppose to be an "e."

Also could be after Gauguin, but with Toulouse on the back, the artist was probably think of Toulouse-Lautrec. The big majority of Gauguin nudes seem to be Polynesian.

Hmmmm.... then again it might have been **done** in Toulouse, France. Geeeee, I should have stayed out of this thread.
