    Hello, everyone!

I purchased this chair at a store that recently opened in an old train station. Apparently the chair was there when they moved-in. So when they offered it up for $6, I couldn't say no. Does anyone know where/when it was made? I don't plan on selling it, just curious.

    Thank you for your time!
    Caleb

Hi and welcome! I cannot see your photographs, your album is set to private view. Please upload your photos directly into your thread here and select "Full Image" to show them so they don't wind up as thumbnail pictures. I know others will want to see your chair for six dollars too! :cat:

Thank you for the heads up, antidiem! I've switched the album to public and I've also added one of the photos here (the others are too large): IMG_6969.JPG

The sabre-legged chair has been around in some form since the Caesars. Yours seems to me like the 30's, but I have no idea why I think so. Brad will know!

    Very handsome chair!

You got a great chair for the price! :cat:
I also think it's 1930's. Is there any writing on the bottom?

Have the bottom of the legs been cut off to be a tad shorter?

The interior filling LOOKS LIKE Spanish Moss, which would jive with the circa.

Thank you, both! I think the 30s is a good shout (my gf thought the same!). We’re really looking forward to reupholstering this one! Now to find the right fabric...

There is a faint number stamped into the wood under the seat; however, I’m unable to make out all of the numbers. :(

Could be the thirties but I am thinking post-war into the 40s. The construction method with the sides being made as a unit with cross-bars between is ubiquitous to that time period. Not to say that it couldn't be earlier but most American chairs made in this manner date to the post-war period.
