Wooden Carved Personal Safety Devices - Samoa?

Discussion in 'Tribal Art' started by BryanTrackstand, Aug 16, 2016.

  1. Here are two personal safety device-looking pieces that I've been told could be from Samoa. Does anyone know about the origin of these guys? (LARGE photos below)

  3. Just over two feet for both. I'm guessing that these were exclusively built for tourists to take back home but ?

Thanks for the link. These actually look more Fijian now that I'm following the links @lauragarnet

    Yup....I've bought and sold both.
You have 2 of the most recognizable styles....likely made in the 2nd quarter of the 1900's.
The flat club may be a little earlier.....

Personal safety devices? They appear to be clubs.
