Wondering where to find a replacement bail for an old cheese crock

    Thank you for the welcome. I love the color of the crock, but need that one bail part so I can close it.

    Maybe you can find a piece of wire and make one.

    Thank you for the suggestion, however, if I can bend the wire, it probably will not be rigid enough to withstand the force of flipping it over to seal the lid.

    Could you buy a chipped or broken crock on ebay and salvage the handle?

    That is where I bought this from; I didn't realize it was missing that one piece. I was wondering if anyone knows the company that might still manufacture the bails, or somewhere to buy a replacement.

    Right, you would need "spring wire".

    Sorry I forgot also that it takes high heat to bend/forge spring wire into proper shape. Roughly 1200° F

    Best bet would be to search garage/rummage sales and Goodwill/thrift stores where you could get a donor piece for a dollar or 2.
