Woman with strange headpiece Oil Painting

Does anyone know why an art student would be asked to paint a portrait in class of a woman wearing a strange looking headpiece?

 

Nope. I like it though, is it the same artist as your previous post ?

 

It does look like painting class work and all the drapery looks improvised. The headdress would have been added just for additional practice in working with light and shadow.

I take it from what you've mentioned before that your planning on selling them, I wouldn't be too hasty about it if you have a collection
