I picked up this nickel silver cocktail shaker today for a few bucks at a second-hand shop because I liked the look of it. When I got home, I did some research and discovered that it was made in Germany by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) and that it has the mark used by this company between 1930-35. Now, I didn’t find any sold examples of this shaker, but did find one the same currently up for sale with an asking price around $1400, as well as other shakers of different models made by this company around the same time listed with prices well into the hundreds. Are these old WMF cocktail shakers really this valuable, or are these sellers simply asking ridiculously high prices? To me, this seems like a $30-$50 item, tops!

1stdibs are lunatic, but you've still got a premium piece. WMF adds money.
