20180415_011704.jpg So this little piece has had me stumped for quite a while and lot of other antiquers as well. I spent 10 hours today just researching anything I could, the only lead I got was Greece, and the relation of the wild boar and greek mythology. Mine looks similar to one that's in a museum and worth hundreds of thousands. Surely there has to be something I'm missing. I don't have something that valuable. Replica maybe? Take a look and im open to opinions or suggestions.

Welcome to the board! Interesting piece. What are the dimensions? How much does it weigh? Are there any marks on it? Can you post more pictures showing the other side, back, bottom, etc... Is it ceramic or stone? Do you have a link to the museum piece that you think it is similar to?

I will add more pictures right now with the dimensions. This guy weighs 2.8 pounds. I thought he was cast iron at first but looking closer I think it's some sort of pottery. I can't find any markings at all. Has me completely stumped.

    Welcome Miranda.

It is not a regular wild boar, try looking for warthog:

Warthogs are sub-Saharan African, so it was probably originally made somewhere in Africa.
Or by someone anywhere who just likes warthogs.;)

Agreed - the base makes me think resin too.

I really think it is stone; I've seen a number of rather similar stone carvings coming from China. (And one wouldn't at all assume that the animal depicted is necessarily native to the area where the carving originates).
