Why would there be a Queen Elizabeth cypher on furniture?

    Hi all,

We have a display cabinet which has a Queen Elizabeth cypher on the back of it but we're not sure why.

Does anybody know why this would be engraved onto a display cabinet (photos attached)?

    Thanks in advance!

I cannot actually see the stamp but it looks pretty institutional so I suspect it is civil service office furniture.

Thanks for the reply. The cypher is to the left of the wall bracket

Its probably ex government or crown property, maybe Royal Mail or similar.
I cropped and enlarged the area for you.

I can't recall seeing a royalty cypher without an "R" following the first initial as in:- ER--Elizabeth Regina
    GR--George Rex
