I was given this to sell as part of the Actress line. I was not so pleasantly informed that I was wrong and it appears to be an accurate assessment for this lid. But I can not seem to find the right pattern. Sorry I goofed on the first try. The apparent pattern on the lid surface is a reflection not in the glass. Any help appreciated.[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Kind of reminds me of the 3 faces I had on some MMA salt & peppers ?

    Hi George,
Try Ceres aka Goddess of Liberty by Atterbury and Co mids 1870s.

Shiloh, hope you're feeling better and that you know that I am just teasing a bit with my comment below. ;)

I don't think it was Aphrodite's curls/hairstyle which would earn her enough fame to have only her head represented on a piece of glass.

    Hi George,
Sorry, I do not remember Ceres having the beading on the back of her hair and I remember her having the scalloped rim. So what was the name of the one I was thinking of???

Well this is a toughie. The pattern name is "Man's Head" plate 171 in McCain's Field Guide and Kamm 5-12. It is the sugar lid and the mans head with a beard or feather is on the sugar base and other items. Thanks to Sid Lethbridge and Darryl Reilly on the EAPGS face book page. This is atypical. Darryl R ssays he has only seen table sets and those had frosted heads.

    Hi George,
Thanks for coming back to let us know. Never ever would I thought it was a guy. I have been "leafing" through my old notes and hints and not finding anything but at least it has been jogging my mind.:bookworm:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I didn't think it was a male, either.... although may have seen some ancient statuary of males with similar hair.

Coming back is part of the mutual learning for this group. I would hope that everybody would do the same.
