The spoon is 4" long, with an unknown man at the top. I can't figure out the maker, either. TIA. twistspoon1.jpg

Looks like Robert Burns, Scottish poet.

Here is one that is flipped the other direction.

Certainly does. A little souvenir spoon from Scotland.

I think you're right with Robert Burns. Good call. Now, how about the maker?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

The best I could clear up that mark.....pretty blurry.....I think they're somewhat readable....first cartouche Upper and lower case 'J', next- sideways anchor, next- either an Upper case 'K' OR 'N' I "THINK", and the last one I have NO CLUE!!!

It was assayed in Birmingham, but I can't find maker JJ. and can't read the other marks.

Okay - with a loupe I was able to see that the last mark is a lion facing left, but the third mark is still a mystery.

I wonder if the third mark is the 1982 H:

New update - immediately following the J is another letter, possibly L or I. AND - the third mark looks like and X (or crossed axes, maybe?)

Update - mark.jpg mark2.jpg My excellent husband with a very good camera was able to take two pictures - one on the bowl of the spoon and the other on the back of the head at the top.

From silvermakersmarks, date letter x, 1897:

    (EDIT: sniped by Bakers!)

I think the makers mark looks like JP or JF...

    Possibly James Fenton?
This mark has been seen on "Badge, bowl, box, fob medal, fruit knife, goblet, kilt pin, napkin ring, pen, pencil, salt, spoon, stick mount, thimble, trophy cup, vinaigrette", circa 1854-1904.

There is also an unidentified JP from 1904, seen on a bowl:

I think the J.F is most likely but that's JMHO. :)

JF (James Fenton) almost certainly. It fits with the date and his company was a prolific maker of such pieces as this souvenir spoon.

Souvenir of Scotland, made in Birmingham. Gee that sounds familiar, only now it's all made in China!

A lot of Scottish pebble jewellery was also made in Birmingham, as was Irish shamrock-themed jewellery.
