Whodunnit - pewter coffee/hot water/something pot

    I've had this sitting around for years. Someone, it seems, got the hot water into hot water. There's a dent and the lid's not tight, and it has that mess at the bottom. I doubt it holds water now. It appears older than dirt, but I've never been able to read the mark beyond ..SMITH. Maybe one of the pewter people knows?

    With MITH in view, I would think someone named SMITH - but I don't know one offhand.

    That's as far as I got too; you can still see the S but nothing ahead of it.
