I have two antique upholstered chairs and am looking to find out who the maker is. My mother bought these in the 1970s or 1980s, maybe in New Orleans when she bought some Henredon furniture. I can't seem to find a maker's mark anywhere.

Not a clue, but that's certainly exuberant upholstery.

Too funny! I was just going to write "exhuberant fabric." Suits 'em too.

Who made the chair, and when, may have nothing to do with the upholstery, which could be much later. It does look like expensive fabric.

It does. And a very nicely done custom upholstery job.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I was going to say Fascinating fabric!!! First QUICK glance before I had time to fully focus I started to think "Gypsy", but of course that's just for the fabric!!! To me it does look like a straight legged Chippendale chair......

Would you have a receipt from when your mother bought the chairs?? I'm a "saver" I have a "LOT" of them from my Mom!!! Just thinking something like that might show who upholstered them...........

It seems to be a European Medieval hunting scene. Possibly inspired by a Flemish or French tapestry.
But as mos said, the upholstery could be a later job.

With that speckled finish on the wood, I suspect these to be contemporary to the time your mother purchased them.
