Featured Which Era is This Black Glass Beads Necklace

I’m posting 9 pieces/sets of jewelry today and will appreciate any and all information and opinions the jewelry experts wish to offer.. I paid $1 for this unsigned 24” necklace, which looks quite old to me, but I’d like to know more precisely which era. I also wonder why the small beads are so crude-looking with pits and flaws. I believe the beads are glass, but am wondering if they were hand made. Is it accurate to call them French jet black glass beads?

 

1890s imo.

Yes it is, classic French jet, probably made in Bohemia (in spite of the name). The clasp used to be painted or lacquered black, you can still see traces of black.

 

Thank you so much @Any Jewelry...it didn't know that French jet was probably made in Bohemia. I wondered about the clasp...it looks really old, as does the string. Do you think it's early 1900s, or maybe late 1800s?
