Here's another photo from the batch I've been researching.

It's a picture of a two prop plane marked Mitchel Air Force Base being transported somewhere via public roads, on a flatbed truck, cab marked U.S. Air Force.
In 1947, Mitchel Air Field was renamed Mitchel Air Force Base.

I'd just love to know the story here. Can anyone id the plane?

    Thanks.

    From Google images.

U.S. Air Force Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor flew from 1953 to 1961.

    Maybe.

Gonna be pre-1959 because of "The Texas Company" over the station's door.

In 1959, the Texas Company changed its corporate name to Texaco, Inc. to better reflect the value of the Texaco brand name, which represented the biggest selling gasoline brand in the U.S. and only marketer selling gasoline under one brand name in all (by then) 50 states.

An aside: I got out of the Air Force in August 1963. Within a year of that time a C-45 in airworthy condition could be purchased as surplus for ~$12K.
Woulda, shoulda...coulda, but $12K might as well have been $12M. I hinted around with Dad...he said simply: get a job. Sigh.
