I'm inclined to think this is a ghost. See how the figure has no feet!?!?!?!?

I think you're correct about "southern woods."

I love tall pines because other greenery can grow under/around them but stands of tall pines are infamous for doing a "cascading fall" into each other when a high wind blows through. Oh yes, they'll bend and sway to a great extent but eventually . . . . :(

OK, I'm pretty well known as being unable to interpret 2D pictures. Magnifying glass does not help much.
For some reason I immediately asked myself what a guy would be doing standing in that landscape with a white robe on.
Why was he wandering through damp, high grass as indicated by the wet/dirty bottom of his attire?
Yes, spectral, when considering why the h-e-l-l someone ELSE was also wandering around a few hundred feet away with his/her Kodak Brownie.
Weird, but also likely taken within the past 30 or so years.

Shadow and/or dirt as per Johnny. Her dress goes all the way into the grass.

Nothing at all "ghostly" about her/him.
Just a heavy-set person that is outstanding in their field. :D

Could be manboobs for all I know. But certainly not a ghost.

OK, Messi, I'll give on the ghost. How about just plain weird, strange, odd.
Not a piece of art, or even an attempt at it. OK, I'll take that back. Maybe they were trying. But, strange scenario.

What's immediately under the hair line? On the forehead? A white band?

OK, Messi, King, here's your manboobs. 38 D?

I have no idea what's on the head. I couldn't crop/enlarge it enough without it being too blurry to see.
But I don't think it matters much either. It is just a photo of someone standing - could be the photographer's wife, or mother, or aunt, or who knows.

Women of a certain age would never be seen out with their hair loose - it would almost always be "up".
The older I get, the less patience I have with things being called "ghostly", or "creepy". It is what it is - a person standing outside.

Well, admittedly, I can always be counted on to see items in clouds, secret messages in graffiti, words in Cheerios, and scary things in photos...
If you need somebody to perceive something creepy, I'm your girl!

Messilane, what's your opinion of vintage? 1940, 50, 60? Or?

I understand your facts and feelings. My opinion on supernatural phenomena is that it takes a good director and crew to attempt to imitate it. In real life it does not exist.

On the other had I happen to accept the concept of the universal mind. Have rarely tapped into it, but enough to, in very modest ways, proven to others that it exists.
Therefore do also welcome "feelings" as helpful. Same as most have experienced unusual occurrences attributed to intuition, instinct or a bit stronger, sixth sense.

That picture had that feeling for me. Doesn't look natural. Possibly staged, but if not, how, what, why?

An uncultivated patch of land. Seemingly unattached to a domicile. Why is a person, male or female, standing out there in what could be a nightdress? Why soil your clothing reaching that spot? Any logical explanation?

NO? OK, then it's strange. Odd. Unusual.
Let's take advantage and have some fun with it.

Not a nightdress. Looks more like the kind of duster coat seen most frequently on people riding in early automobiles.

Perhaps she/he had been riding through the area in a car that broke down? Or was inspecting the area for a new building site and had to hike through a muddy area to get there?

GMA. As usual you are offering a very logical and new explanation heretofore not even hinted at. Pre-1920s attire.

I guess what has gripped and steered me is the feeling that that picture lacks the age of the weird watermelon replica. Therefore on a different track.

But combine the above and I'm really chuckling. Honest.

OK, the wife says, "STOP the car." I love that view. Let's go look at it. Wouldn't you love to wake up and have breakfast looking out the picture window in our new home on that spot."

So he pulls over. Tells her to walk out there and he'll take pictures. They can have them developed and go home to discuss it.

While he's taking the pictures he's trying to calculate the distance to work.
    One hour each way?
Will the kids be too far from school?
    Are there pumas out here?
Will the dog survive? HECK, will the kids survive?
HEY? Will the wife survive.? She has been putting on some weight recently. HMMM!
Oh, well. We can talk about it.

    HMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
