Found this in a box of thingamajigs that I bought, interesting in that it is hand thrown as it is not true, it's off-center or not straight all around. I'm surprised it is in perfect condition, no chips or scratches and it measures 4-7/8"L and 1/2"W and 3/8" between rings, thanks in advance. pin1.jpg pin2.jpg

I'd vote for letter opener. I don't see anything resembling a "nib" nor any place to attach one. Perhaps it could originally have been part of a set, letter opener and a glass pen similar to moreotherstuff's.

I was thinking more like one of those pendulums that you hang over a box of sand on a table (I forget how you start its momentum, but then it creates free-form designs in the sand............!!? I KNOW I've seen them.....somewhere!!!! Sometime!!!!:smuggrin::smug::smug::)

There are lots of those sand thingies shown as "sand pendulums"
but I don't see any glass ones.

Not a letter opener, it is round and not flat. Nor is it a plumb bob as it does not have a tie in which would be dead center. I'm leaning more toward it being a stylus.

Wouldn't a stopper be shorter and with no point on it?

Not with a dauber style end. I've bottles - decorative - with long pointed stoppers.

Hey, I thought you had made a certain New Year's resolution regarding puns. Did I misread that somewhere, or did it last as long as my resolution to not eat any more cotton candy italian ice?

But "clean puns" are okay? You have to admit that one was clever!

    word play.....it's my forte...& I do it for-play !

but yes....I've been trying to hold my tongue on most sexual , or vulgar, or off color puns..!
I'm also trying to post less often...& as you can see KOT...has now surpassed me as most active poster on the board !

Hey 2Shoe...the Yad thought does have merit.!!
although at under 5 inches....having used one....& bought and sold some....I find it a bit short !
