Featured What type of basket? African?

    Hi everyone. I'm hoping to get some help with this little basket. It's about 7" high. Thanks for taking a look and any help at all.

    Looks like a Traditional Zulu grass or reed basket

    I agree, east Africa, rather than south, based on the form itself, and the combination of leather with the basketry.

    Similar baskets are found in Ethiopia, Sudan, and Somalia.

    This appears to be a newer piece, made for the collector/decorator market, rather than culturally used, so it may have artistic elements added, which makes it difficult to find the exact basket associated with one particular culture or country.

    Thank you so much! That's probably why it looks like sections of several different styles, and why I can't find any exactly like it.
