What might this large clasp be?

I unfortunately don't have any photos of the item but I stumbled across an antique clasp that was unusually large. 7 grams and almost 1.5 inches long. It exactly resembles a dog clip clasp for a pocket watch but much much bigger. It is marked 14 for 14k gold... might it be some sort of clothing clasp? I am picking it up next week and will have more photos but I just wanted to see if anyone might have an idea? I'll show a picture of a dog clip below

Looks like a pocket watch clasp as you suspect. What is making you think otherwise?

edit: I'm dense, missed the dimensions. That's weird. 7 grams, wow. No idea then.

I've just random checked 3 of my silver chain pocket watch clasps and each is one inch long so this is feasible that it came from a larger gold pocket watch.
    Only half an inch difference.

There is wear on the ring which is obviously due to something heavy being attached.
14k gold is more hard wearing than 18 or 22.

I've seen them that big, but not in gold.

maybe an older heavier chain ....it has a more stout look to it than most others..

When I get the clasp I will post photos, it must have been for a big watch back in the day!

Might have been one used on a watch stand.

Possible, but those stand holders are mostly brass or other costume.
