Wasn't sure where to post this question so thought I would start here! Does anyone know what kind of rock this is? On the bottom of the base is written Rio de Janeiro. greenstone.jpg greenstone1.jpg

    Rio de Janeiro?
It has a fitted base, and looks to me a bit like the Chinese "scholar's rocks"
but is less intricate or interesting than most of those.
Maybe the base was just for display purposes.
I've got some rocks that look just like it, got them to put in a fish tank I once had....but I don't know what they are! Possibly aventurine.
Here's a guide to green minerals, if that is any help.
