Perhaps a man's dop kit bag?

Used to be termed a (man's) shaving kit for travel.

Travel bag for men's toiletries. Traditional design, common quality. I would think, given lining, 1960s or into early 1970s. (If you're really interested, you could research COATS CLARK logo.)

Mine had the same one; he used it for business travel and on vacation forever or close to it.

My dad had one just like this too, it was his shaving, vanity type stuff. May have gotten his when he was drafted into the army, but not sure.
I always loved that bag, I wish I had come upon it in his things, but alas it
    went somewhere unknown to me.

I don't think my father ever used his bag. It always looked brand new. I remember the earthly smell of the leather case and when I peeked inside, there was a lovely brush. It was square in shape with a blonde colored top handle (maybe wood or celluloid) and white soft bristles.

I think, but am not sure, there were some other plastic cases in the bag where one could put soap, toothpaste, toothbrush etc.

I've heard the term "Dopp kit" but thought it was mostly English. Interesting.

I still have this bag that was my Dad's and he has his shoe shine stuff in it - polish, cloth, brush. Can't seem to part with it.
