    Kind of shallow, don't you think? If you look at the measuring tape, it's only 10" across which means its 4"-5" high. Weird dimensions.

    I don't know why all the eyelets but I'm pretty sure I've seen bags like that in older wood shops. Each section held a different size fastener then the worker would carry the bag with him.

    The string is thin wouldn't of broke if someone was carrying all that weight of nails

    The cords appear to be leather or hide and would have been quite strong when in good condition; and the weight appears to have been supported by at least four strands of leather.

    And why so many holes for just nails? Could of it been possibly for mail?
