    Hi

I wonder if anybody could help me identify the purpose of this piece. It measures approximately 4 x 3cms, I thought it may be part of a belt or possibly something for decoration in a lady's hair but I don't really know. Any ideas greatly received.

Looks like half of a belt buckle to me.

As above. It can be dated to a period when women wore narrow fabric belts.

Looks like it's reverse painted on glass.

Interesting that the design - looks like poppy pods to me - is sideways when installed as half a belt buckle, which I agree it is. Also agree with AJ that it is painted on MOP.
